Is the SmarTire TPMS suitable for use on all motorcycles?
The current SmarTire TPMS system works on all motorcycles utilizing tubeless tires and having wheels with a nominal width of 3.0 inches and wider.

How do the sensors attach to the wheel?
The SmarTire sensors are attached in the center well area of the wheel by a stainless steel strap. This method has been proven on thousands of vehicle installations worldwide.

Can I select pressure indication in PSI or Bar and degrees F or C?
The SmarTire is preset to indicate either:- PSI and C, BAR & C or PSI & F. Select version when ordering.

Do the wheels need to be modified in order to mount the sensor?
No wheel modifications are required for attaching the SmarTire sensor.

Do wheels need rebalancing after installing the sensors?
Yes. Even though the sensors are very lightweight. Always rebalance the wheel after tires have been installed anyway.

How much does the sensor weigh?
The sensor weighs approximately 40 grammes. (1.4 oz)

How often does the sensor transmit?
The sensors transmit to the display when the motorcycle's rolling speed reaches about five mph (8 km/hr) and then at a interval of approximately five minutes or, when the sensor detects a 3psi pressure change. This conserves sensor battery life.

How much time does it take for the sensor to detect and transmit a pressure change?
When activated, the sensor is monitoring pressure every seven seconds and if a major pressure change of 3 psi (from the last transmission) is detected, the sensor will transmit this information immediately.

How much air pressure must a tire loose before SmarTire display flashes the alert lamp?
SmarTire has two alert thresholds. The first alert (a flashing light) occurs when a tire becomes 15% of underinflated. The second alert (solid light) occurs when the tire loses 25% of its cold inflation pressure.

I sometimes run different pressures in my tires when loading it up for a long ride. Can I change the alert thresholds in the display unit?
Yes, the display unit can be easily set to the new cold pressures and it proportionally sets the first and second alert thresholds at the same time. You may wish to raise the alert thresholds falsely by setting higher cold pressures temporarily whilst the display configures.

If two or more bikes are traveling together with the SmarTire system will my display pick-up other riders' sensor transmissions?
No, each display unit is programmed with the identification numbers for only the sensors installed on its motorcycle. It will only display data from these two sensors. There are several million individual indentification numbers.

How does the SmarTire sensor send data to the display unit?
The SmarTire sensors use a 433.92MHz radio signal to transmit tire data to the display unit.

If a sensor is replaced do I also need to replace the display unit?
No, the identification number of the replacement sensor can be learned by the display unit.

Where can I get the SmarTire TPMS installed?
Any professional motorcycle tire fitting shop will be able to install a system using the included installation manual.

How high can the sensors measure pressure values?
The sensors can provide pressure readings up to 77psi.

How will I know if a sensor stops transmitting?
The display unit continually runs diagnostic checks on the interval between signal receptions. If a signal is not received within ~ 20 minutes, an alert is activated.

What pressure levels should I set in my tires?
Refer to manufacturer's recomendations for the specific vehicle and tire.
